No can.  Way too wet for hops a my house.  But I suspect that there is somewhere on this island that can.  We have all but two of the world's climatic zones here.  Now, if I can just figure out where the Willamette-like zone is...

I'm going to lay out my 6'x3' raised bed this week. Was wondering about orientation and the Sun's arc of travel to get the maximum coverage for my plants.

West-East or North-South?

 Tubercle recommends the 6' length E-W if multiple plants of different type in the same bed with the shortest plants south and tallest north.

  If the same plants in the same bed then 6' length N-S to get good E-W coverage.

  Pick your spot and watch the 10am -2pm coverage. That's what you want.

 No scientific sources to cite. Just what I would do.

It depends on what you plan to grow euge, I do mine parallel to the sun so I can grow tall stuff in the back and short stuff in the front.  Then again, at only 3' wide you might not really have a front/back, so it might not matter too much.  I would only put two pepper plants in a 6'x3' bed, maybe 4 if they were a compact variety.  And those beds are small enough that you don't need to worry about prevailing winds and air circulation as long as you don't plant too densely.  

Bottom line, I think you're ok either way, but we'll see what other people say.

Small garden here. I let mine go fallow last year (no time) but I am planning on putting in several varieties of tomatoes and chillies, okra, pole beans and a spice garden.

Okra....yeah, I should put in a dozen plants. To me, they are best at 2" long; pick, steam, and sprinkle with parmeasian cheese...awesome!

They are also quite awesome roasted.  And pickled.  With hot peppers, of course.

The usual. Tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zuchini, green beans, cabbage, lettuce, an assortment of peppers and this year I want to plant some asparagas.

Oh...I can't forget the fresh herbs. Parsley, dill, oregeno, cilantro, etc...

I am so burned out on summer squash.  We've had asparagus for about five years.  You can't beat 'em fresh.  Hope to get some scotch bonnets again this year.

Growing the animals, not much of a vegetable growing season for us but will get the beans,cucumber,potatoes, tomatoes, squash, zuccini and the cooking herbs going.

Yes I grow tea, but it comes in bush form.  You harvest the new growth.

This year going to add about 6 each of Zinfandel and muscadine vines. Going to set these up w/drip irrigation. 

 6 Zinfandels in the ground today. Still waiting on the muscadines to be delivered.

 Plus planted 1 red delicious and 1 golden delicious apple trees and an olive tree of all things. They say they will grow around here. We'll see.
