Yup. PITA to set up, but I think I'll be happy with it in the end. You need a special wrench to adjust the drip rate on the smaller heads, which is annoying. I got mini-sprinklers for the lettuce/spinach/cabbage and the carrots/beets/cucumbers and single drip bits for the tomatoes and stalk-y veggies. Surprisingly inexpensive and it'll save water. What I'd really like to do is get one of those big rain barrels and use that as a gravity-fed system for the water source, but the barrels are expensive here. Plus it's fun to spray things with a hose.

Puna I should clarify, by "sprouting" I mean "shoots of green" and yeah, almost all of them - Still waiting on Petin.

I have some peppers coming up, but mine are still indoors. Have some tomatoes outside under cloches.

That said, my hops are already several feet off the ground.

The petin take a long time- and when they do they'll be tiny and delicate.

You should have a crop by then. If you keep picking them more fruits will grow.

October is a long ways away. It really depends on the temperature. In my experience, peppers love the heat. I start seeds in January and by about late March ( when I plant) they are 3-4 inches tall, depending on the variety. They're just slow plants. I won't see germination for up to 2 weeks after planting, while other plants sprout in 3-4 days.

One thing about gardening is that you'll learn what grows best in your area, what part of the garden they like the best and so on. I never quit learning and I try new things each year. .

Miracle Grow for tomatos and those guys will grow like Jack's beanstalk.

On the basis that you're further south than me, but in Europe, you should be able to crop before October with peppers, depending on the variety. I had chillis in the UK last July-September (started off indoors, but moved outside), and I've bought peppers in Russia by the bushell load in September in my time. You should be fine.

I do have a question - what are the Petin?

Petin are tiny little peppers that are incredibly hot. They have a wonderful flavor.
