Link contrast....
« on: January 19, 2011, 10:37:46 am »
Don't know if anything can be done about this without changing the whole skin in this forum software. I know in phpBB you can go into the DB and do it (or mess it up royally, lol)

Anywho, when there are embedded links, like this one, there is little or no contrast in the text color......I wonder how often they get missed.

Can it be improved, or am I the only one that has this problem?

To me, regular text shows up as black and links as bright blue, so there's no confusion here.

I'm on a mac right now and it's similar to what oscarvan says, just slightly grayer until you scroll over it, then it turns pinkinsh and is underlined.
I never did figure out how to do that embedding thing, but would like to learn.....

Same here. When one posts a link the color can be changed at least.

Same here (PC) but turns yellowish like top banner on this page.

I agree with Oscarvan that this issue needs addressing if possible. As things stand, it is very easy to miss an embedded link. I use a mac at home (running safari) and a pc at work (running internet explorer). On both, the embedded link is only a slightly greyer shade than the surrounding text. If you run your mouse over it, it changes color - but it's all too easy to miss the fact that there is a link in the first place.

Interesting, when I hover over a link it turns orange..... :o

Now that I think about it, one could change the color of text when embedding a link..... like THIS.

But that's a lot of work.

Well, someone at the AHA might smack my hand, but how's that?

Royal Blue? Kinda jarring. Oops you changed it back... :)

That's good. Maybe even a bit darker?

If I might make a suggestion, what do folks think of this?

Fits pretty well in the existing color scheme, maintains that underline == link thing for the Netscape 1.0 crowd.

Eh, I have a very limited toolbox of what to play with here and not a lot of room. Sadly, links inside of posts don't seem to be called out with their own css class. So, I have to choose something that fits everywhere on the site without being too jarring.

This works real well for me.
I didn't get Drew's color change though.

Can you create a new class and update the script that runs the post buttons to insert it along with the "url" tags?

That's a little more lifting and tweaking of the engine than I care to do without explicitly testing everything out.
