Do they still make Shelter Pale Ale? Back when I lived in DE, I used to drink that a fair bit. Seemed more sessionable than the 60. IIRC it was actually a Pale Ale, rather than an IPA. Mostly, I just drank a lot of 60, as the rest of the beers are a bit spendy. Midas Touch is a lot of fun, as is Palo Santo Marron and Raison D'etre, I'd say.

Yes...when it's fresh it's in the top of it's class for an East Coast IPA's for sure. I also like the cask conditioned 75min IPA....it's a real treat.

I like American IPA's on occasion and this one is one of my favourites.  A friend brought me a 6 pack and it disappeared in one sitting with my neighbour.  Nice beer and one of the very few DFH beers that I can find here in Canada (although I can't find it very often).  I tried the 90 as well and it wasn't for me.  Too heavy and too hoppy but I'm a session beer drinker.  For my tastes, the DFH 60 is probably the best of the style.

Heh, no. Expensive. A four-pack of 120 or midas touch costing more than a sixer of good ol' 60 was my motivation there, especially when I was using 60 to break my BMC-drinking friends of their habits.

;-) Oh punatic. I should say that driving is thankfully not required here because of the outstanding public transit. But it helps if I'm going to the malterie to get sacks of malt. Also our gas prices are higher but most of that is taxes, which can be adjusted, which means that we don't experience the magnitude of fluctuation in gas prices that the US does.

And speaking of magnitude, Dogfish head 60 minute IPA is only available in London AFAIK which means to buy one I have to take the Eurostar to London and then a tube to Borough Market, and it is therefore about $300 a bottle. See, I'm keeping things on-topic!

I thought we had it bad here at $1.25 per liter.  Still around $5 a gallon but $7.50...wow!

The trip to Bavaria was originally going to be a road trip until I saw that it's about 1,000 km each way. Taking the train, while giving less freedom to explore random things (and not getting to take the Autobahn) is about 30% less expensive AND it's a sleeper car, which I've always wanted to try.

I would be willing to pay €1,40 per liter for a tankful of gas to drive to buy some DFH 60 or 90.  It's not available here at any price.  Mrs. Punatic brings me back a 6 and a 4 pack when she visits family on thr US east coast.

I have to settle for SN Torpedo, which is not such a hardship.  It is very fresh here.
