Everyone gets a birthday party at work. This was my lunch today. Chalupas Compuestas.

Everyone loved the Salsa Quemada that I brought for the birthday girl.

My office does b-day parties as well. Typically it's just champagne and petit fours... I've been shunned previously for making mimosas out of the champagne they have, apparently it's really good, but frankly I'd rather have beer.

Still, those Chalupas beat anything the cafeteria serves.

We make lilikoi (Hawaiian passion fruit) mimosas that no one ever turns their noses up at. But then, we don't use Perrier Jouet or DP or the likes to make them with either.

They rocked but if the tostadas and shells were toasted it would have been first class. Regardless, they beat anything our cafeteria serves. In France? I guess the French got institutional food too...

Here's what the cantine had on offer today:

Roast Beef, sauce with shallot confit and cumin,

Smoked Duck and s***aake mushroom Carpaccio

Chicken Liver Curry Casserole

Seafood Tajine with olives

Mango Tiramisu

What I ended up having (roast beef, frites, mango tiramisu)

They serve Freedom Fries in France?  ;D

Looks seriously good, though.

Looks very appetizing Euge...it was homemade mac-n-cheese for me today. Sorry no pics as it's all down the hatch now.  :)

Smoked meatloaf sandwich for me...I take a lb of hamburger, a lb of italian sausage, some breadcrumbs, a couple eggs, and worcestershire sauce, some homemade ajvar, salt, pepper, fennel, and red pepper...mix all up, and place in a foil pan (the bottom of which I've perforated to let fat out).  Onto the smoker, then hot smoked (350 deg F) until done, halfway through putting a layer of good BBQ sauce on top.

Sliced, then on toast with pickles and more BBQ sauce.   Cheap and very tasty.

That sounds tasty! Might have to re-figure dinner plans for tonight.

Almost like a fatty without the bacon weave of coarse.

Sounds delicious!  :)

You might want to put a couple of pieces of bacon on the bottom.  And the top.  And sides. ;D

I had a hankering for some Texmex. So went and got me the #1 Mexican plate: 2 beef enchiladas, beef puffy taco, chalupa, rice, beans and tortillas. You can call it the two-plate plate. :D

Unable to finish. Stuffed.
