Making soft water from Distilled

I heard that you can make soft water for Pils using distilled water. Anybody done this, and if so should you add anything to it?

Yes, I do this with RO water which is almost the same mineral level of distilled, and cheaper. You need to target the water for the beer you are brewing.  Don't over do the water salt additions.

For a Bo-Pils you would want to use CaCL2 to get the Calcium level up.

For a Geramn pils you can use some gypsum to get the Calcium and SO4 up, but don't over do the SO4.

There are 2 guys on the board that have excellent knowledge on water, and have their own spreadsheets that will do what you ask.  Martin's is https://sites.google.com/site/brunwater/ and Kai has his on braukaiser.com.  Kai has a water recipe for Pils that I have used with good results.

Martin and Kai can add more to the discussion than I can.
