Hop Additions - Hawaiian Style
« on: March 05, 2011, 11:50:01 pm »
Pele brews on a mammoth scale.  Her current brewpot is a collapse pit inside the Halema`uma`u collapse crater, within the summit caldera of Kilauea.  The collapse pit is about 175 meters across the rim.
Here is a 3x video of a late hops addition Hawaiian style:

A lot more great videos can be seen here:

As of this late afternoon Hawaiian time there has been some interesting activity on Kilauea.  The lava levels in Halema`uma`u and Pu`u `O`o dropped significantly, a new eruption started in Napau crater, and there has been a swarm of earthquakes along the SE rift of Kilauea.

WOO HOO!  I live for this s**t!!

Great stuff!  I hope the ledge the camera is on doesn't fall too :)

I have put my visit to Big Island Brewhouse on hold.  Pele is singing a siren's song!  The new erruption continues.  A bunch of small earthquakes at my house all night long...   Resistance is futile.

The National Park Service, in their infinite wisdom has closed Chain of Craters Rd.  Don't you just love big government protecting you from yourself?  Makes for a longer hike by a few miles but this trail approaches from a better camera angle.

Hi ho, hi ho...
