I used it for instant hot water into my frensh press or aero-press (the latter of which makes a great cup of coffee, better than french press if anyone is interested)

I don't like the taste of the paper filter you get with the aero-press.  I prefer my French press for preparing my homegrown coffee.

Also, water heating chambers build up scale, which add flavors to the water too.

Yeah, you probably drink that crappy Kona coffee. ::)

Heavens no!  I live in Puna.

[  They probably have such good customer service because they don't want people like me bad mouthing them to others who might want to buy one.

this is the reason for most good customer service

Maybe they also make more money licensing the K-cups than on the machines, so they'd rather be generous replacing machines than loose you as a customer.

Cold brewed coffee is delicious.  I get the fair trade kind called "Bike Fuel", it's a nice blend of light and dark roast.  Cold brew it for 12-24 hours in a french press, and drink it on ice or dilute it with hot water or milk.  It's pretty tasty and smooth.

It's powerful stuff.

I've had my Keurig going on 2 years now with no real problems, so knock on wood there.

Seems according this thread, all I gotta do is make a phone call.

Oh and for the folks fretting about the level of waste with the k cups, they do make universal k-cup adapters that you fill with the coffee of your own choice.

The one thing that annoys me though is that I use the keurig as an electric kettle for say tea, but the temperature settings won't let you set it down low enough for proper extraction.

When I was stationed in Sicily one of my friends there called them because he had some questions about which one to get.  He told them he was in the navy and he was looking to get one for the shop.  They ended up sending him one for free with about 100 k-cups.
