Seriously?!  I usually start with a Bloody Mary because it's usually too early for beer.

Good idea, I might have to start my day with a bloody tomorrow.  Of course I'm not brewing, but that's not really the point, is it?

Make a tag to hang on each valve.

Close each valve and collect the tags.

Got 4 valves? Don't start until you have collected 4 tags.

I should really do the tag thing because I'm forever leaving valves open when they shouldn't be.  But it's unnecessary because I'm sure I've learned my lesson now and I won't do it again...

Instead of the tag thing you can number them..... start with one, 'till your done before you hit the switch. It will create a "flow" as we call it in the button and switches business.....

the first time i used my jet bottle washer i forgot to pull up on the lever before turning the water on, luckily i was wearing glasses, but that didnt help the nostrils one bit.

One drawback to the tag thing is watching wort pour out of the mash tun with the tag still attached

I have done that more than once, which is way worse!

It was more the event that followed - from 12-5 at Redhook, with ~15 breweries and ~8 clubs pouring beers.  We announced the winners of last week's competition and gave out the yearly awards for the Washington Homebrewers Association.  It was an excellent time

Turned on house water valve, turned on valve to pump, forgot to turn on outlet vavle. I had previously installed temperature-resistant vinyl tubing for pump hose lines. I looked away while turning all these valves on, and then when I looked back I though, my I don't remember putting a huge white beachball here. POOF. Water -everywhere-, one hose line ruined.

I use stainless now.
