Got my busted up bubble-mailer today, in a bag with the USPS' "sincere apology" for damaging the package.  Thankfully, the book is ok.  The mailer was completely ripped open, end to end.  Hard to believe that a mail processing machine did that, but whatever.  The book survived, and it looks like it's going to be a great read!

I got mine this week.  Is there an official errata yet?  Or do I not know what 12° L crystal malt is on page 3 in the recipe (I was thinking it is 120°)?

From the few pages I have read, it is great.  Thank you Gordon Strong!

Argh!  Yes, 120L.  You'd think with four rounds of editing and a dozen people looking at it, we'd find things like this.  I'm sure the error was mine.  Just a simple typo.  Thanks.  I'll start an errata list.

Although I'm sure it would be good with 12L too ;-)

Just a quick note: I'm in the Bay Area now.  I was up to 3am last night drinking Nathan Smith's homebrew.  I love staying with beer people!  Finally tried Falconer's Flight in one of his IPAs.  Stop by MoreBeer later today if you're in the area.

Do I win a prize?  The only reason I caught that mistake was when I was entering it into my brew software.

Have fun on the BN, I'll be listening.

...I'm also scheduled to appear at the MoreBeer store in Concord, CA at 3pm on Saturday, April 23rd to sign books.  They'll have them for sale there as well.  Come out and say hi, and feel free to bring some beer to share ...I've heard from Brewers Publications that pre-sales to AHA members have been very strong.  Thanks to you all.
Great news! I don't need any more of an excuse for the 5-hour round-trip drive to MoreBeer. I hope they will let those of us who bought your book through BeerTown to get them signed. I'll bring my Citra IPA too (though, judging from another thread, Citra is not everyone's favorite hop), it might distract them. Besides, who can go to MoreBeer without spending under $100 anyway? It's nearly impossible.

Don't worry, I'll sign it.  And I do like Citra.
It was great to meet you. Thanks for the tasting and attaboy on Saturday.

BTW, I have set aside those beers. I'll let you know if I notice it's peaked.

Gordon, it has been a fun read so far, and I can hear you saying much of this as I read.  Many things you recommend I already do.  Some are now on the list to try.  I really like your take on water.  I learned it the hard way, and one can hope that your book will keep others from undue adjustments.  "Less is more" on water adjustments.

Since you took the 12oL crystal errata well, there is one on page 116 that says 'Most starches gelantinize by 158oF (170oC)"   That should be 70oC.  Someone else would have pointed it out soon.

This book didn't help at all...I threw it into the boil at 15 minutes and the beer still came out horrible  ;D

Got mine last week but haven't had a chance to crack it open yet.  Also missed the show last night but will be listening to the archive today.  Better this way anyways...I never remember what's said when I listen live.

Wish you continued success on the book!

Maybe. Definitely the first one read while flying an airliner halfway around the world...  ;D

Thanks for all the kind words and honest opinions.  If any of you have read it, would you mind rating it and/or posting a review on Amazon.com?  I've seen some noise on various forums about the lack of reviews so far.  Given that some people seem to be discussing it without reading it, I thought it might be helpful to those who haven't bought it yet if they got some independent assessments.

Thanks.
