Cheapest place to by a Digital Temp Control
« on: March 22, 2011, 02:42:06 pm »
Hey guys, I need another temp controller for a keezer build.  I was just wondering if anyone knows where the cheapest place to buy a Ranco or Johnson single stage digital controller would be?  So far this is the best I've seen. http://www.pexsupply.com/Ranco-ETC-Controls-1614000 a

That is where I bought mine, and I didn't see any cheaper.

For the $48.95 one you do need an extension cord to wire in the AC power in/out to the relay, and some simple tools and skills.  Was maybe 40 minutes from start to finish.  That included getting the tools out and putting them back.

Thanks for the reply, I think this might be the cheapest I'll find it.  I just got through looking on ebay and they have a used one with a $40 bid. ???  As for wiring that's no problem.  I had to wire my other one and it's been working for me for almost 8 years.

Didn't know you had one.  I have a Johnson and a Ranco.  Like the Ranco because the program is more intuitive.

I would also say Pex Supply is the cheapest.
I also bought some from Ranco Store but they were more expensive.

I've had a Ranco for two yrs and it has been very reliable but would like check for accuracy and if off re-calibrate.  Has anyone done this and if so, how.

I bought mine at ETC Supply.  Excellent customer service.  http://www.etcsupply.com/

I picked up three Johnson Controls 4E047 external thermostats on eBay for $65 total including shipping about a year and a half ago.  It took about two weeks of lurking around the interweb to find them.  I modified three piggyback plugged Christmas tree switches from Ace Hardware to complete the wiring.  Ended up being about $31 each all said and done.

If you do some looking around you can probably find a controller for $40 or so, if you're patient.

Oh - oops - they're analog controllers... but my beverages don't know the diff.   ;)
