You gotta love Hops Direct
« on: March 24, 2011, 03:16:34 pm »
I ordered some rhizomes last week-3 each of Magnum, Cluster and Northern Brewer.  I 3 sets of 3 holes dug so I can keep them separate, filled with steer manure, ready to plant.  They put 4 rhizomes in each bag, all of them big fat ones with lots of shoots starting.  Having to completely rearrange my planting scheme is a small price to pay for 3 extra plants. ;D

They are very good, usualy a little more than a pound of whole cone is shipped.

When I got US Goldings instead of EK Goldings, they said keep them to use and share with friends.  Sent the pound of EKG that day.  Excellent customer service.  Oh, and I did share with some friends.

I too ordered a couple rhizomes from the farm, first day available.

A Cluster b/c the hopfenundmalz infected me with his Renner speech about the classic American lager,  ;D and a Columbus b/c I am curious about how if compares to my Freshops Zeus. :-[

Got them in the mail 4 days later, fat woody things, and two rhizomes each. The farm always gives you more, and it is good to support the source!

Corky,  why not continue as planned and plant all four together?  Faster producing plant, and you won't have to dig any more holes.  In a couple years, you will have plenty of rhizomes to expand.

I've actually run out of room with about 18 Cascades and 2 Nuggets already.  I planted the Clusters along a section of fence so they'll be fine.

I will also test the Cluster in an upcoming attempt at a Ballantine IPA recreation. That one uses Cluster and Bullion.  Got a pound of each from Hopsdirect.

Just picked up a lb of Hallertaur Mittelfruh pellets from Hops Direct.  My supply was getting a little low and they're not all that easy to find.  Threw in a lb of Target to play with as well.
