I've purchased them at my lhbs here in Denver.  They didn't have them last time I was in though...

My LHBS finally got some Zues and Simcoe... maybe I'll see the Nelson next year, or the year after... ;)

I have a Full Nelson bubbling away.  Building a cake of Denny's yeast for the future.
I might go with your (birds) suggestion of adding a Simarillo blend to them for a dry hop.

Anyone know when the new crop from the S. Hemi comes to market?

Somkeone posted the link to seven bridges already and they do have the NS for sale. I have noticed it and wondered. What is the flavour profile like?

I ordered some from Brew Organic about a month ago, and they came in at 10.9%.
I see the ones they have now are at 12%.

Is it possible that they are the new 2011 crop?

It's ridiculous. Smooth/syrupy with heavy tropical fruit, lychee, passionfruit, etc. Imagine what a somewhat bitter fruit cocktail would taste like, except made from fruits grown on AwesomeTrees, and that's what you get.

Full Nelson, ha! I like that! Maybe I'll do a Trafalgar Ale with Nelson and EKG or something.

Hmmm. Sounds tasty. I'll have to keep an eye out for them.

Guess you're not talking about this Full Nelson, huh?

:D, shucks.  All the good names are taken.

What?  Blue Mountain Brewery.....The brewers name is Smack...they use Cascade in the Full Nelson....

Oh....Nelson County, Virginia.    ::)

Looks like a really cool brewery.  I like the hop farm and brewery combo!

Cheers.

Hey,

Just wondering if anyone tried a successful hop combo with the Sauvin?  Phil, did you try the Simarillo blend with it?

I was not too entranced with the silly white wine fruity by itself..in an APA anyway.  I was thinking about something else to cut it a bit...Chinook?  Simcoe?  Columbus?

Anything?

Wow, didn't realize that the NS hops were so hard to come by these days. The owner of my LHBS traded me a pound of them for me to go and pick her up a case of Duck Rabbit Milk Stout from NC. Harder to get the Duck Rabbit here in VA it seems...

I've mostly been playing with Nelson in unusual places where that white wine note would really be interesting (i.e., dry-hopped cider). Having said that, I think it's one of the best choices of the Southern Hemisphere hops to really drive an IPA. Aside from the white wine, I still get a lot of the typical west coast hop-style citrus. If you kept Nelson to 1/3 or less of your late hops, then I think that it would pair well with all the usual suspects - Amarillo, Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe, etc., without totally taking over with the white wine.
