Lazy Saturday (for once)
« on: April 07, 2011, 06:39:12 am »
I plan on doing almost nothing this Saturday save a bit of work on the deck/in the garden. I could use some advice about what to do, as I have almost never "done nothing." Not saying you guys are lazy, of course, but I just need some ideas. Already planned are: smoking a cigar, going for a walk, drinking some of these crazy hoppy beers I ordered, and grilling chicken wings with this recipe: http://www.meatwave.com/blog/ultimate-grilled-buffalo-wings

But that will only get me so far. Any ideas? Perhaps a movie that might round out all that stuff nicely? Sci-fi is good, as is horror or comedy, or something good for, shall we say, altered states of mind?

As far as movie suggestions are concerned I would suggest "Inception".  Another idea would be to check out a museum.  Just my $0.02   :)

Seen it, that was a fun movie! I pass by the bridge they do that mirror-y thing in every day on my commute. Museums etc are a good idea, but unfortunately require about an hour of train ride each way. Still there's an aviation museum not too far away, that might work.

the list could go on & on........ go fishing, play with the baby, take a nap, read a book, drink some more beer, take another nap, play with the baby again, lie on your back & watch the clouds go by, sit by the river & watch the water go by (oh, I already said go fishing), hell .... just drink some more beer & do what ever seems best at the moment.

I suppose I'm destroying my own restfullness with my desire to have everything planned to the minute. 10:00 -> 10:16 RELAX 10:16 -> 10:20 OPEN BEER 10:21 -> 10:30 TURN CHICKEN etc. You have a good point.

You aren't by chance an Engineer are you?   ::) You've already got a lot on your plate for a guy that's planning to do "nothing".  That said I like what I would suggest you approach as a proposed outline for your day; dink around in the yard, put a screw in the deck and call it good, eat well, enjoy that stogie take a nap and drink your beer. Let the day come to you if you can stand to, it will go faster than you think. Enjoy. Cheers.

LOL!

May I suggest doing jack sh!t all weekend? F the chores. Get drunk, eat and chillax. As long as there's plenty of food and beer sometimes I don't leave the confines of my property all weekend. Awake on Monday, refreshed and ready to return to work.

Phil,
I just googled your location.  I went through there in February on my way to CDG from my nephew's house.  He lives in Saclas south of Etampes.    That's a nice area.
If I actually had a day off I would just putter around in the garden with lots of beer in easy reach of my shade-tree lawn chair.

I can't believe you're asking for ideas on how to stay busy when you want to plan on doing nothing... I'm sure there's another forum for something like this...

Man, Inception was a rip off of the Matrix movies...okay okay, they may have elaborated a little bit on the ideas presented in the Matrix movies...

Oh dude, I'm the master of doing nothing! Seriously, since I moved to Idaho, I take six weeks off, then fly back to Ohio and work for two. I have two motytos in life. One....."I do less by noon than most people don't do all day"......and two....."You can't drink all day unless you start in the morning."
So, get up late Saturday morning, don't even think about putting pants on, go make some eggs, and wash it down with a cup of coffee, to be washed down with a beer. If the weather is nice, shuffle out to the deck with a good book, some music, and more beer. Have a big ole' sammich for lunch with more beer. Take a nap on the couch, wake up to a beer, fire up the grill for your wings, and have a beer.
If you need any help, I'll be glad to stop over.  ;D
A man works hard all week, so he doesn't have to wear pants all weekend.

Alright, Weaz, just fly your pantless ass to France and give him a hand.  I'd say you should just sleep all day, don't even eat, drink or go to the bathroom.  That's doing nothing.
I prefer a life of leisure.  I don't really ever do NOTHING all day, I get so bored.  But I don't do much.  On Saturdays I sleep pretty late (11am or so), get up, bum around for a couple hours.  Then I bike down to the bike shop, hang out until they close at 4 or 5, then go drink beer somewhere or go home and drink beer.  Love Saturdays.
