Brewing TV - Episode 34 - Decoction Day
« on: April 08, 2011, 07:12:42 am »

Back to the garage! Join Chip and Dawson for another brew day - this time the beer is a dark Munich lager (with a twist) brewed with a double decoction mash. The Canoe Cam is busted out for more tasting notes, the dogs play some soccer, and BTV Cub Reporter Bryon Adams shows up after the work is done for some barley wine. Alles fur Brau, und Brau fur Alles.

I started it, but decided that watching someone do a decoction is actually worse than doing one yourself.  :-\

I've heard of decotion mashing and I sort of had the idea but this was good to see it in action.  Not sure I'd ever do one but who knows.   Interesting, first time I've seen Brewery TV and it's a bit quirky but pretty interesting.  I watched a few back episodes when I was supposed to be working.  Thank goodness for the internet.

Watching this now on lunch break. Thanks for posting! I really love these shows, and this one was neat - a little bit of history, little bit of science, little bit of weird. :-)
