1 inch full port ball valves
« on: June 27, 2011, 04:32:41 pm »
Anyone have a good source for these? I ordered some and they were advertsied as "full port" but the actual ball valves was 1/2" (though the NPT size was 1"). I have tried 2Xs to get a quote from these guys: http://www.matco-norca.com/product.cfm?product_id=50 but they will not email me back.

I'd prefer dissasemable ones, but the one I ordered from GW Kent weighted about 20 lbs and was not NPT.

Any help would be apporeciated.

I got my 1" ball valves for Mc Master.
They were for the brewhouse and they were brass.
They were about $20 a piece.
Price of SS ball valve comes close SS butterfly valve.

If I would do my brewhouse again I would use 1 1/2 valves.
Where are you going to use them?

Coming off the kettles, MTs, etc - which are 1/2" right now and won't work with my pump. I'd go with 1 1/2" but I already have 1" port tri-clamp for everything else.

What is your pump intake? (what is your pump)?
I had an issue with my pump when I used 1" hose for 1 1/2" intake.
I replaced hose to 1 1/2" and it is much better.
My kettle is still 1" thou.

This is what I have:
33325K35 Chrome-Plated Brass Ball Valve Lever Handle, 1" NPT Female X Male Connections $19.54 Each

By the way I got this hose from GW Kent:
http://breweryparts.com/index.php/1-1-2andquot-goodyear-vintner-hose.html and I LOVE it.
I know it is expensive.
I got 10 feet for pump intake.
It does not collapse under pump suction but it is flexible enough.

Thanks for the info, bro. The pump I have right now is the March Nano Brewery pump and it is a genuine PoS. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, period, ever. We are ordering some equipment out of a company in Fla. called "BrewBev" and a real brewery pump comes with it, can't recall the manufacturer at this point. We are finally getting a glycol system and 2 jacketed 7 bbl uni-tanks. Looking for a 7 bbl BK next.

Speaking of which, how's your BK working out for you? I want to move away from electric elements. Loved 'em at first but am starting to hate them now.

Looking good.

So far I brewed 10 times on my brewhouse.
I get about 6 BBL to the fermenter per one batch.
I burned a couple of elements and that is pain.
So far so good. I brew mostly Bo Pils on it and I do not taste any scorching.
But I will take you on buying low density elements for BK.
HLT will be just fine with medium density.

After I fixed my pump it is much easier to brew on it.
I do not mind electric brewhouse.
When one day I will get a different brewhouse it will be because I do not like all the hose connections, non vented steam and hard cleaning. But it will be some time because I could brew a 1,000 BBL a year on this system.

I am looking for 10 BBL bright tanks now.
Are you self distributing?

It's illegal to self distribute in Alabama. Not that I would have time to do the distribution anyway.

Bummer.
Self distribution is BIG part of my brewery.
It helps to build the brand.
