WLP080 Cream Ale Yeast Blend
This is a blend of ale and lager yeast strains.  The strains work together to create a clean, crisp, light American lager style ale. A pleasing estery aroma may be perceived from the ale yeast contribution. Hop flavors and bitterness are slightly subdued. Slight sulfur will be produced during fermentation, from the lager yeast.
Attenuation: 75-80%
Flocculation: Medium
Optimum Fermentation Temperature: 65-70°F
(18-21°C)
Alcohol Tolerance: Medium High

Anyone have any experience with this yeast? I was thinking of brewing up a cream ale and saw this listed and might try it instead of WLP001

I have used it and it works great.  It give more lager character to the cream ale.  It seems to have some Kolsh type characteristics that really come out nice.  Pitch a bit more for this than the typical WLP001 pitch... and then enjoy the results.

My Father, who has enjoyed the homebrew over the years, was floored by how good this batch was.  The flavor difference was right up his alley apparently.

Enjoy!

I always use it in my Cream Ales. Always a hit with the "regular" beer drinkers I know.
