Its a straightforward "yes or no" question as put forth, but there has to be one variable to consider...

Do you have a HOA?

If so, all bets are off...

No HOA, No seatbelts onboard, Headlights work, hydrostatic drive.....18hp, brakes DO work...

Thanks for the votes....and the re-newed faith in our over regulated human lives. ;)

Yes, but only without pants.

Why would you be on a riding mower with oants on to start? I thought it was just assumed one would be pantless.

But seriously, I did assume everyone here drank while mowing. Back in Ohio, I had a pretty big yard. Had a 46" cut Craftsman, with an 18hp Kohler, and aftermarket cup holders. Honestly, I did not even realize that having a beer (or six depending on the size of the lawn) was something to be questioned.

A man works hard all week, so he doesn't have to wear pants all weekend.

so for all of you that get to ride the mower and drink, just make sure to videotape yourselves and upload it to youtube... the rest of us love that kind of entertainment...

Based on the OP's scenario, he has every right to do as he pleases IMO.  Just don't hold a baby/small child in your lap while drinking and mowing. I can't believe how many idiots I've seen doing that!

Hmm.. a beer hat or hydration backpack would allow for hands-free sipping!

Why stop w/a lawnmower?  Couldn't you drive a car, fly a plane or shoot a gun?  Or a combination of them.
Beer...Now there's a temporary solution!

I'd say yes you should be able to drink while mowing your lawn.  The dude who road his mower to the store while drinking is an idiot.

Nice.  I've got a push mower.  I've tried having a beer while mowing, it just doesn't work.  The camelbak idea might work though.

If the yard is big enough, why not? I can fly a plane on my property.

But I'll only be able to land it once. ;D

Sure, as long as you have NO other passengers or anyone in tow.  Mind the mower chute too.   ;)

As a person that has almost lost two fingers to power equipment while sober bc lack of caution and attention I don't think drinking while doing anything like that is smart but if your tractor is like mine and will kill if you get off the seat and you don't have the mower deck going and your just cruising the yard for kicks  and giggles I don't see why not

Could always run over somebody else.  Damn kids need to get off MY lawn or they'll be mulch!

I do not agree with operating heavy/dangerous machinery while inebriated.  Legality aside, it's a very bad idea.  Remember, God made Man by gathering all the stupidity in the immediate area and molding it into a clay figure with a penis; then he made Woman by taking a piece of that and adding enough air to make it light, fluffy, cushy, and just a little smaller.  If something stupid can be done, a man will figure out how; if this turns out difficult, a man will add alcohol and reach enstupidment.  God knows the WOMAN won't represent the voice of reason during all this.

I used to drink and drive my lawn mower all the time but I realized it was a really stupid idea.  Not for safety reasons but because I don't really have much grass growing on my 2 acres I'm really just mowing dirt.  My beer was always full of dirt and grass clippings so now I just stop every few rounds and have a couple of rounds in the garage.  But mowing dirt and not being able to hear my cell phone for 3 or 4 hours is still a great way to spend an afternoon.
