The Angels are giving back their share
« on: May 14, 2011, 09:25:53 pm »
This Solera was pulled from and topped off with more rochefort.
The thing has now 3 times over flowed into the bubblers. I keep pulling liquid
out of the cask and it keeps over flowing.  I was amazed at how
much the angel's share was prior to the last pull...but now it seems
they are giving me beer back.... ??? :-\  I keep emptying out
the bubblers and hoping it will stop doing this because I know that if the
liquid is fluxuating that much then the volume could change and
the contents of the bubblers could go in reverse.  It is everclear in the
bubblers, so I am not real worried but it is just weirdness.

It's probably the temperature changing, the cask warming and the beer expanding.  I would either use a blow off tube to let it escape or remove a quart and put the airlock back on.  If you stick with an airlock, be sure to use the s-type airlock that will bubble in either direction if you fill it right.

Temp seems stable and cool in the Garage.....
Edit: they are the "S" style.  I went back in the cask
and pulled a few wine thief fulls out...noticing as well that
the cherries which had submerged, are now back to floating and
we have active fermentation.... ;)

Well, cool then :)  I don't need to ask what you did with what you pulled out, do I?

And they just keep on giving!  I had to take more liquid out of the cask again today.  :-\
