Who Are You (please include a picture):
Chris Casey

Home Town (City, State):
Glenville, NY

Homebrew Club:
Saratoga Thoroughbrews

I've been a homebrewer since:
2007

What is your favorite style(s) to brew?
Belgians, stouts, and winter warmers.

What style(s) will you never brew?
Never say never.

What was the first beer you ever brewed?  How did it turn out?
A clone of Magic Hat's #9 (kit). It turned out really tasty!

Have you ever had a homebrew mistake that turned out great?
Yes, a dry coffee stout I thought I totally screwed up came out great. It even took second place in a BJCP competition.

What is your favorite beer recipe?
A hoppy amber belgian specialty ale inspired by the book, "Radical Brewing".

Describe your brew system.
Two five gallon coolers, with a stainless steel manifold for lautering. 8 gallon boil pot (I need to upgrade that!), and a cajun cooker. Recent additions are a barley grinder, and a refractometer.

How frequently do you brew (times/month or /year)?
I aim for at least once a month (I have two young kids!)

What is your favorite hop? Why?
Amarillo and Santiam. I like Amarillo for it's flavoring. I like Santiam because it is from my own hop garden and provides a nice complexity to the aroma.

If you could serve your homebrew to someone famous, who would it be and what would you give her/him?
The author Tom Robbins. Always wanted to share a beer with him. And his latest book was "B is for Beer".

What's the most unusual ingredient you've ever used in a brew?
Roasted beets?

Do you have any pets or kids named after beer styles or ingredients?
Close, our son's name is Keller.

How many medals have you won from homebrew competitions?
2

Do you brew alone, with friends or with someone you live with?
All of the above.

Are you an indoor or outdoor brewer?
Depends on the season, but I prefer outside.

List some of the names you've given your beers. Which is your favorite?
Ring of Fire Cyser
Rutting Pan Garden Saison
Have a Hoppy Summer Wit *Fave
