how about a ubber traditional Pls with no hops just a variety of psycogenic and stimulant herbs. Probably not all that easy to come by wormwood and valerian root on short notice though.

I am obsessed with steam beer at the moment as I am brewing a big batch for a wedding this summer and I started thinking about a sour cherry steam beer. like an anchor steam but when primary is over or almost over add brett and cherries. Up it WA you could probably find sour pie cherries easier than I can here in NorCal. Or rainier cherries might be good too with that loevely vanilla hint they have. mmmm. rainier cherries

Definitely something rapture themed. You know it's this Saturday, right?

Whatever the style, you gotta give it a rapture-based name. End Times Barley Wine? Purgatory Pilsner? Armageddon Red(den)?

A no sparge Barleywine and then a mild or a bitter to follow from the second runnings.  ;)

Yes.  I pulled a tokayer yeast out of the freezer last week, it's on a plate in my fridge.  I need to grow up enough to make a batch, it's not ready to go yet.  I know, it's taking forever.  But a friend sent me the Falconer's Flight and I want to use them, I need to keg my Flanders so I can send it to someone plus I want to put something back in the carboy with Vinnie's bugs, and I need to brew the weizen for SWMBO.

Ouch!  I forgot it was there, what is there, 3 lbs?  You smoked it, what do you think I should use it in?

I like it.  Maybe I'll do 10 gallons of the red I planned, and in 5 I'll add some more color and roast from steeping grains.  I'll have to work on the recipes.

Great idea, but for later in the summer I think.  I'm craving a variety of sessionable beers.  Although if I decide to get crazy this will be perfect for Sunday. ;D

I know I'm not AE, but man if I had Alder smoked malt in my inventory, smoked porter all the way!

Well, just get it done while I'm still around...  I think I'm gonna head out now and pick up some stuff for a weizen of my own... and going through my grain inventory looks like I have stuff to make something Belgian or something English... And since I have a tupelo honey tripel conditioning, and an orval and belgian dark strong fermentating, I think something English will do nicely....  I have a 100% rauchmalt rauchbier in the keg right now that you'd probably like.

Bring some by, I'll be brewing all weekend.  We can compare to my 100% rauch malt helles dopplebock.  I need to keg that too . . .
