Triple batch day!
« on: May 21, 2011, 10:17:49 am »
I'm half way thru my triple batch day. Batch 1 is chilling, 15 gallons of bitter. Batch 2 is boiling, 5 gallons of porter. Batch 3 will be 10 gallons of American Brown. Things are going very well!

A triple batch brewday is better than a good at work.   :)

Seriously considering doing that myself..... much better use of time. Doing an occasional double now.

i'm anxious to hear how it went.  please post.

did you just jump into a triple-batch day or have you been doing some double-batches and figured it's time?

i've been thinking of doing some double-batches.  any tips?

I usually do single batches, but with a long streak of rainy weather, working mass overtime, and a single function emptying my kegerator, I needed to brew.
Did the first batch, when it went on to boil, emptied the mash tun and started the second brew. Having two burners helped. When the first one was chilled to 85, it went into the conical, dialed down to 65, and started the third mash. The second had plenty of time to chill, when it hit 68, into the carboy. The third batch was finished, and in the other conical at 5, dialed it down to 65. Pitched my yeast at 6, this morning all three are bubbling away.
Kept track of mash times and boil times on a notebook. It was a busy day, but worth it. Hopefully, I'll be able to go back to my batch a day routine, more relaxing, able to kick back and enjoy a few extra pints that way!

I often do double and triple batch days.  I like to lay out a timeline on a piece of paper for every piece of major equipment I use so that I can figure out how to do as much work in parallel as I can.  So I have a timeline for each burner, kettle, mash tun, and chiller.  It really helps organize the procedure so you can just enjoy the brewing and perhaps perform some quality control on previous batches as well.  ;)
Is that a counter-pressure bottle filler in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
