I made two batches yesterday while running some Very Old Dark Kilauea Ale. One batch was made with Kona coffee to the
receipe found on the MMS website (half size batch). I made a second batch with coconut fragrance oil:
200 g Crisco
150 g coconut oil
150 g olive oil
71 g NaOH
140 mL water
8 mL coconut fragrance oil - added and mixed in at trace
Molded in a 9" x 3" x 2" Rubbermade drawer organizer tray lined with Reynolds freezer paper. I molded the coffee soap the same way. The 9" x 3" x 2" trays are the
perfect size for 500 g experimental batches.
Decided to try Crisco instead of liquid soybean oil. Crisco is hydrogenated, which I have read will make a harder bar. My soaps made with liquid soybean oil (Kirkland brand) are not as hard as I would like.
