I think I might have time to harvest my Cascade hops this weekend. They are very healthy and about ready for harvest. I'll be sure to post pics.

It's been a strange summer weather-wise here. In spite of that, my hops are getting close to harvest time and look good. We have japanese beetles all over right now, but they are only snacking on some of the hop leaves, and not touching the cones, so I'm not worried. I'll try to get some pics up later.

My Northdown growing against the fence on my allotment. Flowering away, but not doing as well as I'd hoped. This is year two for this, but the weather has been really weird for us this year - early dry heat, then really cool and wet, now hot and humid. I definitely need to mulch this winter.

Here's how mine hops looked about a week ago in NE PA.
2nd year Hallertau:
4th year Brewers Gold

The brewer's gold are doing great and ready to harvest... I'm expecting a lot!.  Cascades likely 3-4 more weeks, maybe 2-3 batches worth.  The hallertau probably around same time as cascades, and same amount.
overall a good year in NE PA.

I think so. 

My Cascades are looking like they'll be ready for harvest within the next couple of weeks. Finding the time to do it is the biggest concern for me right now.

I came back from vacation and all my hops were dead, not a leaf to be found.  I've been watering them and now some of the vines are a couple of feet tall.  Since our growing season normally lasts until November I may have a chance at a harvest.  If not I may have some 4-8 year Cascade crown for sale next spring.

Yep, my drip system controller failed a week before we left for 3 weeks.  My daughter was supposed to water them "plenty" but she decided not to "waste" water so she apparently watered them individually for about 5 minutes each once per week.  Coupled with temps in the 105-114F range almost the whole time we were gone they never had a chance.  But they all are still alive and if there's some cool weather or rain they'll survive.

I had a good harvest from my Brewer's Gold and Cascades this year.  I still have to harvest the first year hallertau, but not expecting a lot from them. Overall a good year in NE PA.
