Good stuff, thanks for the conversational ammo guys.

One last question! We want to find a good (ONLINE) video training series so we can be prepared for how to train a puppy. Any recommendations?

This isn't an online video, but I would highly recommend these two books:
http://www.amazon.com/How-Your-Dogs-Best-Friend/dp/0316610003/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1307643263&sr=8-2

http://www.amazon.com/Art-Raising-Puppy-Revised/dp/0316083275/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307643263&sr=8-1

The Monks of New Scete are proponents of crate training, and their training works great, just make sure you follow their instructions.

You shouldn't be afraid of puppies, but you should be afraid of 8 puppies, ask me how I know.

My boy Merlin is my avatar, I'll post a picture of my girls (kestrel and cider) when I get a chance.

I am happy to see so many of us on the forum have so many great pets.  I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by suddenly having 7 cats. All of them are very special to us.  I can't imagine how I would pick one to give away.

It's good to see my house is not the only one with many animals.

We had been giving a lot of thought to adopting a dog, but the unexpected arrival of 4 kittens kind of put that on hold for a while.  We need to let the community find its equalibrium before taking on more dynamics.
There is only one success: to be able to spend your life in your own way.

Hey, awesome books, thanks! Interesting story, before my wife and I met, she was planning on becoming a Sister. So, we like monk-type things.

Man, it seems like a lot of pets are dying.  Maybe it's just a function of the number of people here with pets.

Good people are animal people. Good beer people are good people. Therefore there's a super high concentration on here.

Rescuing one animal won't change the world, but the world surely changes for that one animal.

I have a house full. Aside from the 3 year old kid that is more of a Tasmanian Devil, I also have 2 cats and 1 dog. The dog is 2 and the cats are 6 and 4 yrs old.

Cap, Nice and good on both em.  Sorry bout the rooster.  I had an iguana and he got
sick, then mean and died years ago...I did not know he was sick...when he died
I figured out why he had gotten so mean, he did not feel good. He was 4 ft long plus.
