You are correct. This is non self priming pump.
It is placed under the kettle.
Drop is abot 2 feet and kettle is 4 feet tall.
There is plenty if pressure to prime it.

Dear Sally,

Me and my pump we are back together.
What a great relationship it is.

I bought a 1 1/2" intake hose, replaced motor to 1 hp and things are going great.
Thank you for all your help.
