I would like to thank everyone that helped call, write and otherwise contacting WI legislators in this whirlwind process of getting SB 395 passed.   Way to go everyone.  Time to make some homebrew!

Alabama homebrew legalization Bill HB 354 is set to be voted on by the Alabama House on Tuesday, April 3. Alabama residents are encouraged to email the House representatives prior to the vote and if possible, attend the session. We need to make sure the Representatives know how much this bill means to the state's homebrewers and that legalizing homebrewing does not pose a threat to the state.

See the AHA Action Alert at http://bit.ly/H3SspH.

Let's hope this year's vote goes better than last year!

Good luck to Alabama.  Let's keep up the trend of legislatures acting on behalf of homebrewers.  Today the Governor of Wisconsin signed SB 395 the homebrewing bill in to law today.  Now all we have to do is wait for the law to be published in the Madison paper, then wait 90 days and the law is in effect.

Thank you again to everyone to helped with this momentous event.

Congratulations to all of the Wisconsin homebrewers. Yesterday Governor Scott Walker signed SB 395 into law. The law will take effect three months after the Wisconsin Secretary of State publishes it, which should happen within the next 10 days.

Here's a link to the announcement we sent to the Wisconsin AHA members: http://bit.ly/HHg6ET

This was an awesome achievement and one that was by no means certain.  The bill would not have passed if it weren't for all of the contacts Wisconsin homebrewers had with state legislators.

After a very lengthy debate and attempts to filibuster the bill, HB 354, a bill to legalize homebrewing in Alabama, was passed by the House.  It now moves on to the Senate.

Congratulations to all the Alabama homebrewers!  Good luck in the Senate.

The Alabama Senate Job Creation and Economic Development Committee passed House Bill 354 favorably on Tuesday, May 8 after the bill was reassigned from the Senate Small Business Committee. The bill now must be voted on by the full Senate in order to go to the Governor for signing. The Senate has just three days of this session in which the bill can be heard, including today. If it is not brought to a vote, it will die with the end of this year’s legislative session.

Alabama residents, contact your legislators now and ask them to support HB 354!

We are down to just one day left, Wednesday, May 16th, for the Alabama Senate to vote on the homebrew legalization bill.  We're asking Alabama residents to contact the chair of the Rules Committee and the Senate Pro Tem to urge them to place HB 354 on the calendar for Wednesday.  We've come further this year than any past year to legalizing homebrewing and need to everything possible to at least get a vote in the Senate.

Many of you are probably aware by now that the Alabama bill did not get called up for a Senate vote on the last day of the 2012 legislative session, and so died along with several other bills that also didn't get a vote.

Obviously this is not the outcome we were hoping for, however, this year's homebrew bill got further than any previous attempt to legalize homebrewing in Alabama. We now have a bill that we know can pass the House and Senate committee. Word is that it also had enough votes to pass the Senate, had it come up for a vote. The bill language is set and we have willing sponsors in both the House and Senate for 2013. That means identical bills can be filed prior to the start of the 2013 session, giving them much more time to work their way through both chambers.

So, while it is very disappointing that homebrew legalization was not passed this year, things are looking more promising than ever for 2013.
