Most essential oils are made with steam, with the botanicals held in a retort. Water and oil are separated after condensation.  The condensed water is called hydrosol.

The last time we talked about this the thread got locked.  Is Denny on vacation? ;)

I think it's more that last time the conversation was about how to do it. This is more about the fact that it's a no-no to do it.
