Duff beer!
« on: July 04, 2011, 09:04:45 am »

It's not as bad as it sounds. Tastes like a more complex Bud. I'd buy 6-packs of this if they weren't 8 euros per sixer.

Somewhere in Germany, I don't have the bottle anymore but I'll pick up a couple for this weekend and will try to remember to tell you then

Looks like it's brewed in Gotha Germany...

I'm surprised that they can get away with selling it, given the outright copyright infringements. I'd be amazed if, at least in the U.S., Duff's beer isn't trademarked. I'm surprised that Fox hasn't gone after these guys yet.

I love the bottle of formula vs beer juxtaposition. ;D

Saw this beer recently. No idea it was an import.

It's brewed under contract by Eschweger Klosterbrauerei, and I have no idea about the copyright stuff. Of course it could be like Budweiser (the REAL Budweiser, Budvar) and have existed before the Simpsons and therefore be protected under Prior Art.

Yeah, looks like it's contract brewed in several places around the world...

DUFF Sales & Marketing E.K. | Gotha, Germany
J.J. Bitting Brewing Company | Woodbridge, New Jersey
Brouwerij Haacht NV | Boortmeerbeek, Belgium
Simpson's Brewing Company, S.A. De R.L. De C.V | Zapopan (Jalisco), Mexico

...maybe the company contracting this out has rights to use the trademark?

I'd love to say you can paypal me for shipping and I'll send a few to you. Sadly, with the archaic US alcohol shipping laws I cannot send even a single bottle to you.

Matt Groening certainly looks like the kind of guy who enjoys beer - maybe he just licensed it out. The Simpson's are basically adult-only these days, anyway.
