All Beer (book/tasting thingy)
« on: July 14, 2011, 05:33:31 am »
This isn't strictly homebrewing, and it's about a book, so I figured I'd post this here.

I met the author, Alex Barlow, at the Soiree Maltee thing a few weeks ago. He was going to give me a copy of the book, but I ended up buying the tasting kit instead. It has scratch-and-sniff hop cards!

Anyway. The book (which I haven't yet had a chance to read all the way through) reads like a primer on beer styles, and explains in an approachable way how to tell different beers apart, what to look for in styles, and how to detect different flavors and aromas. It's not the BJCP by a long shot, but I could see this as being something that gets pitched to non-brewers and first-time craft drinkers as a way to get into different beer styles. I can post an excerpt for a style when I get home today.
