I _think_ that's the production date.

I have some US-05 and S-04 in my fridge with 2013 dates.  Same company, so it should be an expiration date.  That said, it is probably fine.  Keep an eye on it.

Save the receipt and the packet though, and tell them about it when you make it back to Ballast Point.  Unless they had it in a discount bin, at the very least they owe you some non-expired yeast.

It probably happened because they ordered too much of it and then didn't realize it went past the exiration date.  I'm sure it was just a mistake.  My LHBS sells expired yeast too, but they move it to a discount bin and you pay a lot less.  I buy it sometimes, it's easy enough to make a starter or pitch an extra packet.  But it's a good idea to check the date when buying yeast.

well, after work now i am at home and i can look to the fermentor and is going well in activity, nothing weird about a smell or so.
i think is good afterall... but shure im going to let it know at the store.

i can perceived the spicy aromas in the Witbier, some chamomille, coriander orange peel (dried and fresh)
thanks

More to the point, was the yeast refrigerated when you bought it, and did you keep it refrigerated after you got it home?

The cooler you can store your yeast (at least, dry yeast), the better it will keep.

Unless it's been badly abused, using a dry yeast culture which is 6 months out of date will probably work just fine.

Yes, it was refrigerated and i put it in a mini cooler as the pellet hop... but a year and a half after best date was my concern
but, it seems to be working fine..happly bubbling

in the case of stuck fermentation of the actual batch, should i put another package of yeast? to get it finished?

well, today i went at ballast point brew mart to get my thing to my next batch that im cooking right now, a brown ale and i told the guy about that overdue T58 yeast i purchase a couple of weeks ago. He was surprised and well, offer me the yeast i was purchasing today for FREE!, he went to the fridge where they store it and notice it was the last one of it and the same date....

yesterday i bottle it and got the reading of the FG 1.006 for my Witbier, not so bad and good taste...
Edit.... i put another cero in the number obove, sorry

cheers!

I know for a fact that US-05 and S-04 in the 500 g bricks are date two years past the production date. I can't imagine the homebrew-scale packs would be any different.

I'm guessing (hoping?) you mean 1.006 for an FG?
