First Brew Tomorrow!
« on: August 08, 2011, 08:51:43 pm »
Doing my first brew day tomorrow with an experienced friend and I've never been more excited. A bit nervous about sanitation but otherwise really optimistic.

Brewing on the brooklyn brew shop one gal kit. Chestnut brown ale.

You'll do great, don't worry.  Just have fun, learn lots and enjoy the process.

Don't stress out about sanitation. Use the appropriate commercial products and follow the directions. The manufacturers do the hard work for you.

And above all, have fun.

Be careful, it doesn't take much to turn this into an obsession... just ask my wife!

Good luck with your first batch!  The process seems intimidating at first, but after a few brews it becomes second nature!

You always hear "Sanitation, Sanitation, Sanitation" but don't sweat it too much.  There's so much emphasis probably because people only listen to half of what others say.  By overemphasizing it, even the folks who only listen to half will still have a chance of having decent sanitation.  Just keep things clean, follow the instructions on your sanitizers, and above all, relax.

Have fun.

Brewing is a fun experience, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Wow those 1gal Brooklyn kits are expensive!  You'll want to shop around when you get into this a little more.

+1 LMAO! Before you know it your garage might be full of fridges and freezers and your bedroom closet will be full of kegs and grains.  As far as sanitation is concerned, I used to sweat it too but then I found out about Oxyclean and StarSan.  If you run into problems just remember there is always great help available here.  Have Fun!!!!

Once you brew your first batch there's no going back... even if it tastes like crap or you don't like it, you'll want to do a second one and make it better.  If you love it (more likely), you'll want to brew more and more and more!
