I only do about one batch every three or four months, but that's mostly a budget issue. I also go through beer pretty slowly, so running out hasn't really been an issue so far.

How much beer is too much? That is like asking... no wait... it's like... Anyway think of air. Can't have too much air. Beer's like that. ;)
That's funny :D (anyone else didn't get it?...sheesh ::)

 I'm allover the place. Some months a bunch...other months I have to go into the buying mode. I need to re-prioritize.

19 batches in 21 weeks for me...

...MANY happy friends, and a few that pretend to be friends.  And I suspect all my of-age relatives are going to be really happy at Christmas.

cheers--

I try not to keep track of the total gallonage.  That way, if I'm ever subpoenaed I won't be able to rat myself out.

I would say too much beer is when you have too big of a stockpile that you need to up your consumption rate to get through it so you can brew again.  I typically have one or 2 batches fermenting at one time and 2 on tap.  So that when a beer on tap runs out there's another one ready to be kegged.  I wish I had more fridge space so I could be carbonating one beer while the other two are on tap so that when one runs out all I have to do is hook it up and drink.  But waiting 5-7 days isn't a big deal either.

I've only brewed 6 times this year, which isn't much for me.  But I moved this past weekend so I didn't want to have beer to move, which means I haven't brewed in a couple months because of that.  I'm aching to brew pretty bad.

Ah...the ol plausible deniability trick. Very impressive.

Are there rules about how much beer you can brew in a year?  I really don't know.

Legally - 100 gallons annually as an individual, 200 gallons as a household.

1 adult in a household can brew 100 gallons. More than one adult in the household and you can brew a max of 200 gallons.

I seriously doubt you will ever have a revenuer knock on your door and ask to see your brewing log. But you never know.

By the way, the 100/200 gallon rules that everyone is talking about are US law.  Don't know how it is up the Great White North where you are.

From what I can see googling it they can poses no more than 50 gallons and it is illegal to take it out of their homes. But I didn't see an annual limit.
