Best Bets in Cambridge, MA?
« on: August 02, 2011, 05:20:48 am »
I am in Cambridge through Friday noon (at an institute at you-know-where). Had Matilda on draft at Russell Tavern... yes!! Any other places that are pleasant, have great stuff on draft, and are in reasonable walking distance of Harvard Square?

Can't tell you too terribly much about beer, but if you like pizza, you should check out Cambridge 1 (http://www.cambridge1.us/)

I can't give first hand experience, but I hear a lot of good things about these two from other forums.

I can give John Harvard's Brew House a solid meh. Beer was okay and the food was decent, but I'll look elsewhere next time I'm in the area.
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

Hope the T and either go up to Davis and RedBones or down to Kendall and go to Cambridge Brewing Company.

I heard about Redbones. Had far too much reading every night to wander a-far  :-/   . We went to Cambridge Commons -- meh. Their best beers were things I can get in SF. The Matilda on tap at Russell Tavern was still a treasured highlight. It's a beer I love in the bottle, and to have it on tap..!
