No brewing. Kegging my Quad and bottling my entries for The Pilner Urquell Competition in NYC on Monday night.
Let me know how the competition goes... I'll be at the one in Chicago next Friday.

Will do!

This weekend I'm doing my next iteration of a Belgian Gold. The first time I brewed this (out of 80 Classics) I really liked it but I wanted to try and tweak it just a little much.  Hopefully by the end of the year I'll have it down exactly how I want it so I can make it my 'house' beer ;)

Brewing a porter, fining a year-old mead in preparation for bottling next weekend, and lagering my Oktoberfest.

Where simplicity does well - this is one gets a lot of great feedback & will be brewing this weekend:

All Pilsen malt + 1/2 pound of carapils
All Saaz whole hops (schedule is 60, 30, 10 on a 90 min boil)
White Labs Lager yeast

going for 6% ABV, 40 IBU, mash ~150, ferment at 65, dryhop with Centennial or similar.

I was hoping to brew a Belgian Strong Ale, but will not have time.
Saturday afternoon and evening I get to be judge director of the beer festival at the Lowery Park Zoo, called WaZoo.  We're going to try to assess the winners out of about 250 commercial beers.

Going to be brewing a Pliny the Elder clone tomorrow and then help out my brother in law with a Berliner Weisse. Neither of us have ever used Brett before so it should be pretty fun. Also very excited for these beers as I have acquired a bunch of new gadgets for brewing. Two of which items were a chest freezer and a Ranco 2 stage controller. Hoping  to see a significant improvement in my beers now with fermentation temperature control.

Brewed a winter warmer with cardamom, clove, coriander, orange peel and cacao.  Used some amber syrup in it, came in at 1.070.  Fermenting with WLP550, a wit yeast.  This is an experimental brew, one of those things thats fun to brew regardless of whether it turns out.

I'll be doing a Belgian Pale Ale if I can get a day off this week. That makes five beers for Burning Man. ;D

Beer is like porn. You can buy it, but it's more fun to make your own.

A brewing rule that I have was broken this last week - no summer brewing.  That is bacuase I do not like standing by hot kettles and flame when it is 90F and humid.  There was a break in the heat on Wed.  There had been requests by the wife and some of her friends that think Saison is a special beer.  So this was brewed using pils malt, some rye, styrian goldings, and Wyeast 3724 with a starter.

Started out at about 66F, and ramped it up over a few days.  Went away for a few days and it is still fermetning, but shall we say that it is hot in the garage.  Real hot.  I don't think it is going to stall.

Brewed a session IPA.  4% abv but tons of late hops as though it was an IPA.
