holey moley, backpedaling already? wowza that doctoral achievement takes over fast.
hehe, just ribbing you a little.
Anyway, I am {edit: um still} curious of your field of study.
I think folks that have PhD's and goats on their chin are just automatically cool.
I do disease research, my PhD is in biochemistry.
In the case of my dissertation, I looked at the structural changes to a protein caused by mutations. The mutations cause ALS (aka Lou Gehrig's disease or MND for those in the Europe). Using computer simulations we can look at the atomic level and see the effects of the mutation on the protein structure. It's especially important in this case because there is a gain of toxicity instead of the usual loss of function.
My next project involves a different protein and a different disease, but will use a similar approach. I'll be joining the Dept of Bioengineering as a postdoc, and partnering with a yeast lab in the Dept of Pharmacology for experimental work based on the results of the computer work.
