I spotted the change up on the forum banner yesterday and wanted to comment, but thought that I might be the last one to notice.

I think they need to redo the banner too. It doesn't quite look right. The shades of brown are too close together, but not a match.

+1. That caught my eye first thing this morning, even before I noticed the logo had changed.

My only complaint is that the logo is a bit too dark for the banner.  I should have the same faded effect as the rest of the banner.  Otherwise, looks good.

I think it could use some more color. If my hops are brown I know they're dead.

I really like the yin/yang - hops and malt in balance around a glass of beer imagery of the new design.  Very cool.

What's really been bugging me is that the version in the banner was reduced from the original in such a way that the edges of the cap are rough and the letters are a bit hard to read. The original posted in this thread is fine, but the banner version hurts my eyes.

I personally think the beer style shown in the logo should be a RIS.

That one's already taken - by the Rusky Homebrewers Association.   :D

What?  No yeast cells?   ;)
What do you mean no yeast?  There's a cell between the barley and the glass, shown to scale. ;) ;D

The end product has not been filtered...It's in there.

A few of them (me included).

Hmm, sounds more like what the Beer Advocate logo should be.

I'm really impressed how they were able to get so much imagery into the logo. I feel it will be a very marketable image, and it will look good on t-shirts as well.
