Quoting Denny on the benefits of exercise seems incongruous.  I'm happy you got that straightened out.

Hey, man, I'm on my treadmill 4-5 days a week!  Not that you can tell by the way I look....

Good for you Denny. Should we add being fit to the list?  I think we should.

A friend of mine says his wife is always after him to get in shape.  He responds that he is in shape; round is a shape!   :D

+1 on this one. I am no longer the " gym rat" I used to be. But at almost 56 years of age I can still do 15 pushups on each arm and nearly 20 chinups. I only drink twice a week. I am 4 years from retiring and ever so glad for the time I have invested in my health. I want to have the health to do the things I want to do after I retire.

I'll be 56 in a month or so.  I have a 12 year old son to keep up with.  Staying in shape is not an option, it is an imperative.
Besides there's nothing like a good hard sweaty 12 and a half mile bike ride to burn off a hangover!

Retire - hmmm I guess I did that 6 years ago when I started my own businesses.  I love what I'm doing now.  Everyday is different!  When I was an employee the hours at work drraaaaggged by.  Now that I work for myself the days are waaaaay too short.

Here's what I included in my talk:

  • Take Notes
  • Brew Often
  • Sanitation
  • Take Care of Your Yeast
  • Fermentation Control
  • Understand Your Ingredients
  • In All Things SImplicity
  • Practice Safe Brewing
  • Research and Experiment
  • Have Fun

Interestingly, that was my basic list before I asked, but ya'll helped flesh it out. I appreciate the help and the weird twists the conversation has taken.

Brew with other people once in awhile, such as at a club brew day, to see what others do during their brew day. We can all learn from each other.
