Western Slope / 4 Corners.
« on: August 25, 2011, 11:27:33 pm »
 8) Here is a chance to meet a celebrity.   8)

I will be in Durango on the 8th. I hope to hit Ska brewing and Durango Brewing Co.
and possibly, Carver brewery, and Steamworks brewing...

Of course if anyone does meet up with me, it will limit my breweries as I figure a good
convo on beer will ensue and some food may be ordered but what the hell. I am up for
a good beer and good company any time.

Whadya say? Huh, Sean T, Jaybeerman, pinnah, and anyone else out west/southwest...??!?!?

PS. I know it is not an easy drive to Durango from, well anywhere in the region, But if you
had planned a trip there for something I figured I'd drop a line...

always sounds good, but I'll be stuck in here in fruita.  Geez I'd much rather have a pint at ska and durango brewing than have a pint down here,  oh well.  enjoy yourself.  cheers, j

How do you pronounce Fruita anyway?

something else?

I might have already asked this, but if I did I forgot the answer. :)

Froo ee tah would be the Spanish pronunciation, but you know how that goes.

There is a town in Central Florida named Oviedo - nextdoor neighbor to the University of Central Florida.

The Spanish pronunciation would be:
oh bee ay thoe

however the local pronunciation is:
oh vee duh

go figure, huh?

And how about Natchitoches?

That's an indian name.

Kinda like the Econlockhatchee River that runs through Oviedo   ;D

We have a lot of those around here too, but they tend to be easier to pronounce.  Except maybe for places like Sequim (SQUIM) and Puyallup (pyoo OL up).

It's pronounced NAKA-dish or Naka-tish. BTW they are famous for the meat-pies made there. ;)

The pronunciation or the animal? :)  Yeah, that's a weird one.  And euge, I never would have gotten that one right.

yeah, but amarillo is easy. I mean if you can say tortilla or tomatillo you should be able to say amarillo, just kills me.

actually now that we're on this subject - my favorite is people who can't say their own last name right

DuBois  Doo Bose
Mullinieux  Mull uh Nix

makes me want to cry

slight edit - oops, had to fix a thread mixup
