The Goose has extended it's range....
« on: June 30, 2011, 11:08:43 pm »
But overflew me in the process......

The new corporate owners of Goose Island Brewery (AB-Inbev) aren't wasting any time finding new markets for their purchase. Yesterday I'm sitting in my favorite little watering hole in Manchester UK (ok it's the Knott Bar, CAMRA pub of the year 2009 and 2010) and lo and behold there's Goose Island coasters on the bar.... They have bottles of the IPA in the cooler. Meanwhile, I still can't get the stuff on the East Coast. Go figure.

They've actually been in England for awhile, predating the AB buyout. In 2007, Roger Protz said their IPA "may just be the best beer in the world."

It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

I'm surprised that you can't get Goose Island on the East Coast. It's been available in Western NY for about a year now, which is a bit unusual since most brewers who get into the NY market skip upstate NY and go for NYC/Long Island.

When I was doing the Chicago Bears fanclub in NYC I got the bar to stock Honkers' ale. This was nearly three years ago (am I that old???) so it's been in that area for a while.

I found Matilda at a small package store in N. Dartmouth, MA last summer.

Goose Island IPA is now in Tesco's, next to the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Funny. Many of the better Belgian beers are easier to find in the US than in Belgium. Before you know it, all beer will be foreign.
