I just brewed a Pumpkin "Pi" Ale this afternoon.  I've never brewed one up until today and I've always wanted to.  The wort smelled and tasted delicious.  I'm not sure if it's a beer I'll want to drink a lot of in one sitting.  It will be a nice beer to give sixers of to friends and family; or if I like it too much just to hoard.

You could brew a pale ale and put the pumpkin in the mash and just tell that it is in there, but the pumpkin adds a nice flavor and slight aroma to the pale ale.

I made my first last year and it was fantastic!  I am NOT a fan of ANY fruit/vegetable additions to beers, but I do like the Pumpkin Ale.  I made mine with a lot of spices and added a quartered and baked 15lb pumpkin to the mash.  It came out at 8.3% and tasted like Pumpkin Pie Beer.  MMMMMMMM!

Plus two of those and you were one very happy orange squash drinkin' camper.....

St. Arnolds out of Houston made a divine reserve Pumpkin Ale a few years ago and it was gr8!  They plan on making it a seasonal brew, but I am anxious to try one of my own.

Brewed up some pumpkin ale yesterday. I got the color as close to pumpkin orange as I could.

I've had requests from friends to brew a pumpkin beer but personally i find pumpkin disgusting in any form, except carved on the front step, and even then i won't go near the guts as it activates my gag reflex as soon as the smell hits me. Put me down for not brewing one.
