My badass wortchiller
« on: May 07, 2012, 12:33:00 pm »
I found out how badass my wort chiller was yesterday.

A six gallon batch. A coil of 50' 1/2" copper. Only half in the wort. I turn on the water. It doesn't seem to be chilling. I turn up the water. Stir. Now the dial starts dropping. I get it down to 120F in a couple minutes with some vigorous stirring.

I let the water run and stir it every 5 minutes. It refuses to budge from 120F after 20 minutes. WTF? ???

I look down and both of the burners the kettle is straddling are on full blast... ;D

And to think I only had two beers at that point!
