At John's Grocery, choosing beer for a bike ride called "Park Ride" that a couple friends of mine and I do once a month or so.  We ride to 6 or 8 parks around Iowa City and have a beer in each park.  Usually goes until 5 in the morning.  Good times!

Those are some seriously cool photos, Carl!  I would love to be that close to lava flow.  A buddy of mine just moved to Honolulu.  He's now the chef de cuisine at Alan Wong's Restaurant.  Maybe someday I'll make it to the islands and check out that lava flow for myself.

I spent the night out on the lava photographing and videotaping this eruption.  When the sun came up I used a point and shoot held at arm's length to snap this self portrait.(I look like I've been up all night)







Here's what it looked like a couple of hours earlier:



The lava was fountaining about 400 feet into the air.
