I had one many years ago and I wasn't impressed. I doubt that it's much worse than many other things you eat, hence my reference to hot dogs. Every once in a while I get an urge for a $1 double cheeseburger. I think the breakfast items are pretty good when you're in a hurry and want something cheap.

The commercials are what's funny. Like people really get that excited when they bring them back. Yeah, right.

ugg, I worked at mickey D's when this thing came out. Can't speak to the taste as I was/am a vegetarian but I suspect that if I hadn't been I would have been afterwards. But people got very excited about it. go figure.

I also served lobster rolls which, apparently, were made of actual lobster meat. peole liked those as well. go figure.

I have often been seduced by the breakfast items and always regret it after the second hashbrown.

I like a dry rub with a little hot sauce personally - but I could be sold on mustard sauce ... maybe. I'm not sure South Carolinians know anything about ribs, though.

A wet mustard application before the rub on ribs works very well. You'd never know that mustard was used. Besides I put mustard powder in my house rub, among other things. ;)

Or parboil chicken leg-quarters (just a couple minutes) and cool uncovered on a baking sheet. Then on the pit to bbq fast with just mustard instead of the sugary traditional tomato based sauce. oooweee!

So... has anyone out there actually had one?

Had one back in 1981...  haven't had one (nor wanted one) since

What's funny is if this was in the "Ethnic and Regional Cuisine" thread it would be lauded as an Eastern European charcuterie delicacy!  I have no problem with efficiently using meat, including the "nasty bits" that on their own, we wouldn't want.  If they can make a decently edible sandwich out of it, then there's that much more that they aren't wasting.

Green chile cheeseburger for 1.29?  Export that up here, please!!!

I really like the coffee at McDonalds and the sausage McMuffin with egg (seasoned with salt, pepper and two mustard packets). When I have to eat there, I'll pick a salad. I used to like the fries a couple decades ago when they used real grease.

The McRib to me is like their McNuggets. Reconstituted and not very good. It's too bad, a good rib sandwich would be a good idea.

I only eat there with the nephews. That place has a strangle hold on kids for some reason....

Do they still mold the ribs into the meat. I always found that funny.

I happened to see a commercial for it last night. When the girl's husband was making a big deal about missing the McRib, she said "I married a 14 year old". Looks like that's their real target audience.

The coffee at McDonalds is roasted by Green Mountain Coffee roasters in Vermont. They roast it under contract to Newmans Own organic which has the contract with McD's

I seem to recall that even as a kid I thought the food wasn't very good. The toy surprise is how they get the kids in, isn't it? That and the playground. Or do all the franchise fast food places have playgrounds?

On-topic (ish), I don't think I've ever had a McRib, and the closest McDonald's is an hour away, so I doubt I will.

There's just something about Science Food that I can't resist. For some reason "mechanically separated meat" is a phrase guaranteed to get me drooling.

The McRib would be better if it didn't have all that gross sauce on it.
