The supermoon is a myth...

HAH!  This moon was so super it caused a green flash as it rose off of the coast of Brittany, France:

The whole story is here at APOD for May 10, 2012:

Here is the stop-motion DSLR photographed video that caught the green flash.
SuperMoon rising on the ocean

So, mister smarty pants, I may not be the sharpest pencil in the box, but I've watched The Incredibles a gozillion times, and I know a Super when I see one.   ;)

I love seeing the green flash when the sun goes down, but I've never seen one at moon rise.  Very cool.

More proof of Superness:
Sun vs. Super Moon

The Super Moon wins, by just a little, when its apparent size is compared to the Sun in this ingenious composite picture. To make it, the Full Moon on May 6 was photographed with the same camera and telescope used to image the Sun (with a dense solar filter!) on the following day. Of course, on May 6 the Moon was at perigee, the closest point to Earth in its eliptical orbit, making it the largest Full Moon of 2012. Two weeks later, on May 20, the Moon will be near apogee, the most distant point in its orbit, so by then it will be nearly at its smallest apparent size. It will also be a dark New Moon on that date. And for some the New Moon will be surprisingly easy to compare to the Sun, because on May 20 the first solar eclipse of 2012 will be visible from much of Asia, the Pacific, and North America. Along a path 240 to 300 kilometers wide, the eclipse will be annular. Near apogee the smaller silhouetted Moon will fit just inside the bright solar disk.

Living on the windward (rainy) side of the island I have seen a few moonbows.  They are always an eerie experience.  Usually they are so dim that colors are lost.  Think a B&W rainbow.

A couple of times out on the lava flows, alone at night, they have appeared very dimly due to a small moon phase;  much like a ghostly apparition.  Talk about a chicken skin!  I know why Hawaiians believe in spirits.

okay, so this a little hard to see. I was going to make a pin hole viewer but come 6:30 I realized I forgot. d'oh. anyway I went out side to enjoy the odd light and noticed this in my garden. You might notice the bright nail pareing shaped spots on the ground here and there, well I have a big tree in my yard that was between us and the sun and I think what happened was that the holes between the leaves acted like lots of camera obscuras and gave me these images of the eclipse.

it was very cool, I only wish I was a better photographer and/or had a better camera than my phone.

A coworker of mine managed to get this shot of the eclipse. This is from Salt Lake City, UT

Best I could do was take a picture of the neato shadows cast by a tree:

Wow! And I mean it! The shadows are the most freaky but it really makes sense with the pinhole/camera obscura display.
