i have left beer in the fermenter on the yeast for several months. granted it was a vienna, and i kept it in the cold of my garage (illinois winter) and it turned out crystal clear and fine.  i agree with above comments on no  need for "secondary" unless adding more fermentables.  let the beer fully attenuate then process it to either cold crash etc.
