I’m running for may last term on the AHA Governing Committee, my second term is coming to an end. Many of you know me and my wife Susan already. For those that don’t, here is some of my information.
I’ve been homebrewing since 1992, and in that time we’ve made 450 batches of Beer, Cider and Mead. We still brew, as my current obsession is to make the perfect (to my palate) Pils, Helles, and Rauchbier. Still competing in the NHC, still looking for another medal, but it gets tougher every year. I’m a BJCP National Judge. My wife and I are longtime Ann Arbor Brewers Guild members. Recently, we upped our family AHA membership to Lifetime.
The GC activities I’m involved in include moderation of the AHA forum, you may know me as Hopfenundmalz online, and am a member of both the Competition and Communications Committees. The competition is important to me, as the National Homebrew Competition and HomebrewCon are where it all comes together for the AHA. Susan and I can make some first round sites to Judge and Steward when our plans allow. We will be at Indy first round this year, and of course the Second round. I’ve attended 14 HomebrewCons, and the knowledge and experiences traveling around the US are memorable. The major take away is all of the friendships that I have made with the outstanding people at NHC.
It’s a great hobby, man I love it. It can be as simple as I want, or as technical and complicated as I want. Beer is a social drink, and the social aspects are what I have gained the most rewards from the hobby. Good friendships, good memories, and some pretty decent Beer, Cider and Mead consumed along the way.
So I ask for your vote in the GC elections. Win or lose, see you at HomebrewCon Nashville 2020.
