Attention KS Homebrewers!

Dear AHA, Brewers Association and Support Your Local Brewery Members,

Existing Kansas law does not allow for homebrew to be served outside the home for events like homebrew club meetings and homebrew competitions.

The American Homebrewers Association is supporting an effort by a coalition of Kansas homebrew clubs to resolve this issue. Substitute for House Bill 2223 (added text is italicized, deleted text is struck through) was drafted to allow Kansas homebrewers to legally share homebrew at club meetings and enter homebrew competitions. The bill will be called for debate on the House floor between Tuesday, February 4 and Thursday, February 6.

How Can You Help?

Please contact the state House Representative for your district and politely urge him/her to vote in favor of Substitute for HB 2223. Contacting legislators is quick and easy, and every contact they get from homebrewers will help assure our success.

If passed by the House, the bill will next be heard by the Senate Federal and State Affairs committee. Please also contact the members of the Senate Federal and State Affairs committee to ask for their support of Substitute for HB 2223.

Thank you for your support of homebrewers. Your action could make the difference in whether or not this legislation becomes law. Please forward this message to other Kansas residents and businesses that may be interested in supporting this bill.

Sincerely,
