By Matt Bolling, American Homebrewers Association
For more than 20 years, the American Homebrewers Association has brought people together annually on the first Saturday in May to celebrate Big Brew. However, given the current public health crisis caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, the AHA is making some changes to this year’s Big Brew.
Big Brew will not be organized through registered public events as it has been in the past. Instead, we are encouraging homebrewers all over the world to pledge to homebrew at home on May 2, 2020, to celebrate the hobby we all love. The AHA is keeping a live tally of all who pledge to homebrew, and how many gallons they will brew, on the Big Brew homepage.
Though there will be no public Big Brew events this year, the AHA will still host the annual simultaneous worldwide toast at 1:00 p.m. ET. Whether you’re brewing a batch of homebrew or enjoying a pint of your latest batch of beer, be sure to share your love of the hobby by posting your pictures to social media using #BigBrew at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 2, 2020.
