H.B. 2223 Passes & Signed into Law

Attention Kansas homebrewers!

The Kansas legislature has passed, and Governor Sam Brownback has signed into law, Substitute for House Bill 2223. The new law went into effect April 24.

This new law allows Kansas homebrewers to legally share homebrew at club meetings and to enter homebrew competitions. It also expands the scope of a microbrewery licensee’s maximum production from 15,000 to 30,000 barrels per year.

Thank you to everyone who communicated with legislators over the past two years in support of this legislation. Particular thanks go to all of the Kansas homebrew clubs that participated in the effort to get this legislation drafted and to Steve Cook, Mike McVey and Philip Bradley, who led the effort to get homebrew legislation passed.
